The rock fortress at Sigiriya was built by King Kasyapa fulfilling his father's inspired dream of building a palace in the sky: as you would. On the other-hand Kasyapa did kill his father, therefore building himself a fortress may not have been such a bad idea especially to prevent being killed by his vengeful brother. Sigiriya was a kingdom built on an extremely large rock, by incredibly imaginative and inventive engineers, drafted from the imagination of a deeply flawed King who certainly made good the saying "it's good to be King". Pleasure gardens, pleasure seats, pleasure fountains and plaster wall frescos which simply are a pleasure. King Kasyapa certainly would have given Caesar Caligula a run for his money. Viva la doce vita! A "must see" in Sri Lanka! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sigiriya
